Urban Solace - Summer Programming FAQs
Do I need to register every week?
1
Yes!
While this is a FREE community program, space is limited. So for legal reasons and for the safety and comfort of our guests - all participants are required to register every week. The link goes live on Monday at noon and closes three hours before the start of each session.
If you cannot make your scheduled class, kindly use the confirmation link sent to the email that you provided to remove yourself from the roster which then opens the spot for other guests to reserve.
NOTE: There are three buttons at the upper right side of your email confirmation that read: “edit info”, “reschedule,” and “cancel”. The portal accepts registration modifications and cancellations until three hours before the session.
Where do I park?
2
It depends on the class.
Details and a map can be found on the confirmation screen - which appears immediately after you complete the registration process.
Please read the information provided to help you navigate safely and efficiently.
What happens if I don’t register and just show up?
3
You may be escorted away - we have security on speed dial! LOL
In all seriousness, our liability insurance requires that everyone who wants to participate in our programs is registered [full stop]. Plus there is a maximum amount of people that can be within each designated/permitted area.
The Urban Solace team works very hard to produce this wonderful, FREE, annual program and we simply ask that guests respect the process to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for all.
Why is my email address required?
4
There’s nothing worse than making the trek to an event, only to find out that it was cancelled [speaking from experience]. So, your email address allows us to contact you in the event of a cancellation. We cannot reach you if a fake account is provided.
During the past 19 years we’ve experienced a variety of unforeseen issues that have required us to call off a session (heat advisory days, thunderstorms, air quality alerts, spontaneous plaza closures, etc.).
As a courtesy to our guests, we try our best to contact all registered participants at least one hour prior to the start of a scheduled class. So please check your email accounts for updates.
Yoga mats are required for our Thursday & Friday yoga sessions, but not for the Wednesday class.
Also, the yoga classes are conducted on pavement, so additional cushioning (like a towel or gardening pillow) is strongly recommended if you’re taking care of tender joints.

Do I need a yoga mat?
What happens if it rains?
6
Class will be cancelled.
We try our best to monitor the local weather radars but some days the conditions are just too unpredictable. Through the years, we’ve had days with a completely clear forecast and set up for class, only to experience an unexpected down-pour. When that happens, the session will be cancelled on the spot due to weather safety concerns (e.g. high winds, lightning, hail, slippery mats, etc.).
As mentioned in #4: if conditions are more predictable, you will receive a cancellation notice via email, at least one hour before the scheduled class time.
Why doesn’t the registration link work for today’s class?
7
When a registration attempt is made well in advance of the three-hour pre-class deadline and the link is inactive, or you see the prompt “online scheduling is not currently available”, then the session is FULL!
If needed, please review FAQs #1 and #3.
Please do not arrive without a confirmed registration.
Urban Solace - Summer Wellness Tips
Outdoor exercise is a wonderful way to enliven your wellness routine. However, please keep in mind a few tips as you plan for your outing with US. Most of our programs are in full sun, so we encourage safe fitness practices - stay hydrated, listen to your body, dress appropriately, and recognize the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion. Let US know if you have any injuries or range of motion concerns so that we can offer you safe practice modifications. Michigan weather can be unpredictable - so we invite you to join US on social media for cancellation notifications.
